Job description

LP Gas Driver

The LP Gas Driver will be responsible to ensure that the L.P gas company operates efficiently and profitably. The Driver will also be the main operator of the delivery truck. Will work under the direct supervision of the LP Office Manager.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description
  • Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record
  • Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays

DUTIES:

  • Shall develop, follow, and apply company policy and procedures.
  • Ensure company wide compliance with all industry standards, codes, regulations, and training.
  • Ensure compliance with LP standards are met during set up of L.P tanks (1000 gallon and smaller), burring of copper tubing, installation of regulators and testing propane systems
  • Required to identify, service and maintain various parts of a propane installation including propane tanks, cylinders, and bulk storage installations.
  • Must use the properly specified types of piping and tubing, fittings and associated tools to meet applicable codes when properly installing gas piping systems.
  • Must utilize applicable safety standards when transporting and/or installing propane and equipment and proper use of tools and other equipment.
  • Must be willing to provide emergency and after hour services.
  • Provide maintenance and documentation on trucks and tanks to ensure compliance with all industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Will work with office manager to develop efficient daily work, delivery schedules, and ensure acceptable customer relations are met with assistance from Office Manager.
  • Shall ensure accurate reconciliation of daily account transaction, including financial and propane inventory and daily usage.
  • Ensure proper pricing strategies, ordering and that adequate inventory is kept in stock with assistance from Office Manager.
  • Must assist completing end of the month reports such as, but not limited to, bulk meter readings, and inventory of equipment and parts with assistance from Office Manager.
  • Assist with preparing an annual budget and monitor monthly financial statements with assistance from Office Manager.
  • Recommend in purchasing decisions for major assets and equipment such as delivery trucks, service trucks, and storage tanks.
  • Conduct performance based skill assessments for propane handlers and manage all LP field personnel related issues.
  • Must be reliable maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
  • Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.
  • Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  • Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.
  • May be required to satisfactorily complete an exam or other testing requirement(s) to determine skill proficiency.

The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have high school diploma or GED.

2. Must be at least 21 years of age and have a clear driving record.

3. Must pass a federal background check.

4. Must document 3-5 years experience in propane industry. Work experience is to include establishing heating programs, payment options, setting product, and service prices.

5. Must have some supervisory experience.

6. Must have and utilize good customer relations.

7. Must have a basic knowledge and understanding of the physical properties and combustion characteristics of propane.

8. Must understand the importance of and how to recognize properly designed equipment for safe propane use.

9. Must have knowledge of propane industry standards, safety codes and regulations such as the manufacturing, equipment standards, fire prevention and operational safety standards.

10. Must know how to identify specified piping and tubing materials, fittings, and associated tools.

11. Must attend CETP (Certified Employee Training Program).

12. Must have a CDL (B,C,D) with Hazardous Materials, Tanker and Airbrakes Endorsements.

13. Must be able to lift 70 pounds with ease.

14. Must obtain and maintain coverage under the employer's Employee Dishonesty policy

15. Must be willing to attend all applicable training.

16. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.

17. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer's liability insurance.

18. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.

19. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.

20. Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurance are required. Must obtain a Wisconsin driver's license within 30 days of employment if applicant has an out-of-state driver's license. Must meet and maintain the eligibility to operate a personal or tribal vehicle under the driver acceptability guidelines as established by Mohican Nation Insurance.

21. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must submit to a commercial driver fitness determination report in accordance with CFR 49, Part 391-43.
  2. Must sign a release allowing an investigation of previous employment record for the last three years the purpose being an alcohol and drug inquiry according to CFR 49, Part 391.23 A, 2, and C.
  3. Must furnish the Stockbridge-Munsee Community with the driver's certification of violations.
  4. Must submit to a Fair Credit Reporting Act disclosure statement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.

3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.

4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.
