About the Role (Melbourne, FL or Huntsville, AL)
HEKA is hiring Software Engineers to join our fast-paced, highly collaborative engineering teams working on advanced aerospace, defense, and embedded systems. We are looking for innovative, team-oriented engineers who take initiative, value ownership, and thrive in an environment where impact matters more than titles.
The individual for this role can be based out of areas near Melbourne, Florida or Huntsville, Alabama. 
Core Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded and systems-level software
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers in a tightly integrated development environment
  • Contribute to avionics, control, and mission-critical software stacks
  • Support rapid development cycles, prototyping, testing, and iteration
  • Take ownership of technical decisions and deliverables

Desired Skills & Experience
Required
  • Software development Experience with C/C++, C#, Python
  • Understanding of Engineering Process

Strongly Preferred
  • Embedded C/C++, RTOS, low-level systems
  • Ability to architect software systems
  • Strong software fundamentals and engineering discipline
  • PX4 Autopilot experience

Nice to Have
  • Avionics or aerospace systems experience
  • Control systems, guidance, or GNC exposure
  • Desktop software development
  • Unmanned systems experience
