Job description

Description:

Please do NOT apply for this position if you want a job at a really fancy, stuffy and uptight law firm. Those places might be really great but that's just not us.

That being said, at David Fogel P.C., we most certainly take the work seriously... but we try to have a good time gettin it done. In fact, if you don't have a demonstrated strong work ethic or reliability is not of the utmost importance to you, then you should NOT apply. It simply would not be a good fit for each other (and who wants that?).

If you’re truly awesome (defined as: you get along well with others, you take ownership of your work, you're genuinely happy to help, and you're someone who can be counted on) and you're somewhat intrigued by this job post, then know this: it is our pledge to ensure that you don’t dread coming into work every day. Heck, you'll probably miss coming into the office on the weekends (ok, ok, if you really want to come in on the weekends, we'll see what we can do).

Here’s the deal: we need someone who:

  • is awesome (see above for definition),
  • is motivated and energetic,
  • has a sincere desire to learn and grow,
  • is a self-starter, and
  • does not settle for anything less than excellence

Are you still in?

You will be responsible for reviewing documentation (you know, with paying careful attention to detail), conducting factual research (includes being really good with google), preparing and filing legal documents such as judgments and/or motions, scanning and performing other legal and clerical assistance… the day will be over before you know it (seriously). Excellent communication skills is a must. Additional duties may include making court and bank runs.

Don't forget to read the fine print before you hit Apply Now:

  • 1+ year experience of paralegal/legal assistance in NY civil litigation preferred – we're happy to train on the specifics but we need you to have a working knowledge
  • Desire and demonstrated ability to crush it. Every. Single. Day. required – energized and upbeat is the vibe we're going for
  • Desire and appreciation to work IN OFFICE - we like to be around awesome people so WFH/hybrid arrangements just isn't our jam
  • NYSCEF filing experience preferred – if not, no worries, we’ll teach you
  • Organization and neatness required – it’s the only way to stay on top of your game
  • Flexibility and ability to work alone and with others required – we got a lot to do, so you need to be able to be productive on your own and step up as a team player as needed
  • Great computer (PC) skills required – you can be a Mac expert but you need to know the difference between left click and right click
  • Proficiency in MS Word & Excel and GSuite (Gmail, Drive, Sheets)
  • Enjoy a good slice of pizza preferred – this should speak for itself
  • Sense of humor can't hurt – after all, we’re spending a lot of time together

Bonus: the hired candidate will get bragging rights that they work at an awesome place with awesome people (value: priceless).

A final closing thought: if you think you'd be a good fit for this position, let us know why... ya know, in that cover letter no one likes to write.
