Permitted Substitute Teacher
Job Purpose
As a Permitted Substitute Teacher, you will deliver high-quality Early Childhood Development services to preschool-aged children, supporting their educational, social, physical, nutritional, and emotional growth. You will also engage with parents, maintain student records, and ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and implement daily lesson plans following curriculum guidelines
Supervise children during classroom and outdoor activities
Conduct developmental assessments and maintain records (manual & digital)
Prepare and serve meals; promote healthy hygiene habits (including diapering if needed)
Organize and lead educational and physical activities
Support parent-teacher conferences and occasional home visits
Supervise Teacher Assistants and provide feedback
Travel to various school locations (minimum of 15 miles)
Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year experience as a preschool teacher, aide, or assistant (Head Start experience a plus)
Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher required
A.A. Degree or higher and 12+ ECE units highly preferred
3 units in Infant/Toddler care preferred
CPR/First Aid certification
Strong knowledge of ECE theory, child development, and classroom management
Excellent observation, organizational, and communication skills
Valid CA Driver's License & proof of insurance or reliable transportation
DOJ fingerprint clearance (Livescan with CA Community Care Licensing)
Bilingual skills a plus
Special Requirements
TB test (within past 11 months) & health screen clearance
Immunizations: MMR, Tdap, Flu
COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption
Ability to lift 25 lbs. and meet physical demands of working with young children
