Permitted Substitute Teacher


Job Purpose

As a Permitted Substitute Teacher, you will deliver high-quality Early Childhood Development services to preschool-aged children, supporting their educational, social, physical, nutritional, and emotional growth. You will also engage with parents, maintain student records, and ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment.


Key Responsibilities

· Plan and implement daily lesson plans following curriculum guidelines

· Supervise children during classroom and outdoor activities

· Conduct developmental assessments and maintain records (manual & digital)

· Prepare and serve meals; promote healthy hygiene habits (including diapering if needed)

· Organize and lead educational and physical activities

· Support parent-teacher conferences and occasional home visits

· Supervise Teacher Assistants and provide feedback

· Travel to various school locations (minimum of 15 miles)

Requirements:

Qualifications

· Minimum 1 year experience as a preschool teacher, aide, or assistant (Head Start experience a plus)

· Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher required

· A.A. Degree or higher and 12+ ECE units highly preferred

· 3 units in Infant/Toddler care preferred

· CPR/First Aid certification

· Strong knowledge of ECE theory, child development, and classroom management

· Excellent observation, organizational, and communication skills

· Valid CA Driver’s License & proof of insurance or reliable transportation

· DOJ fingerprint clearance (Livescan with CA Community Care Licensing)

· Bilingual skills a plus


Special Requirements

· TB test (within past 11 months) & health screen clearance

· Immunizations: MMR, Tdap, Flu

· COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption

· Ability to lift 25 lbs. and meet physical demands of working with young children
