Job description

Turn a Job into a High-Performance Career

Are you ready to lead by example while operating the most advanced recovery equipment in the region? Plains Towing is looking for a reliable, safety-conscious Shop Foreman / Class A CDL Heavy Tow Operator to support our Gillette and Sundance, Wyoming locations. We take pride in our "state-of-the-art" approach, featuring a refined fleet that includes the largest 60-ton rotator wrecker in the region.

Prior towing experience is preferred but not required. We are looking for individuals who bring the initiative and drive to learn the skills needed to succeed. There is a real learning curve to this role, and we provide the paid in-house training, time, and support to master it. Responsibilities and duties will be distributed according to your training progress as you grow into the position.

Why Join the Plains Towing Team?

  • High Earning Potential: Competitive hourly pay ($28.00 - $32.00 DOE) plus a $2,500 sign-on bonus, unlimited overtime, and regular performance bonuses.
  • Top-Tier Equipment: Work with a modern, well-maintained fleet and cutting-edge dispatch technology.
  • Career Growth: We prioritize internal promotions and provide a clear path for professional advancement.
  • Comprehensive Benefits:
    • Health Insurance and 401(k) with company match.
    • Paid Time Off (PTO) to ensure work-life balance.
    • A consistent schedule within a safety-first environment.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As Shop Foreman / Class A CDL Tow Operator, you are a hands-on team leader and the physical, day-to-day representation of company values and priorities across the Gillette and Sundance locations. You work hand in hand with the District Manager as his on-the-ground extension, allowing him to focus on managing the broader district and driving marketing and productivity growth.

Your daily mission includes:

  • Team Leadership: A team leadership role (not a management role), setting the standard for the rest of the team through your own performance, safety practices, and professionalism.
  • Safe Operations: Loading and unloading vehicles with precision to ensure damage-free transport.
  • Technical Operation and Training: Operate specialized company equipment in compliance with all safety regulations, and pursue certification progressing from light duty through heavy duty recovery operations. Attend all training courses associated with the Class A CDL position as part of your ongoing development.
  • Workflow Support: Assist with scheduling and prioritizing vehicle maintenance and repairs to help minimize fleet downtime.
  • Facility and Fleet Stewardship: Assist with facility maintenance and upkeep, and help ensure assigned equipment remains in peak operating condition.
  • Long Distance Response: Maintain readiness for occasional long-distance travel on short notice.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Initiative: A self-starter mindset and willingness to learn. Prior experience is preferred but not required, just the drive to grow into the role.
  • Professionalism: A commitment to premium customer service and a "team-first" attitude.
  • Resilience: The ability to work 12+ hour shifts and perform in extreme weather or challenging terrain.
  • Safety Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying hazards and protecting yourself, your crew, and the public.

Qualifications

  • Age: Must be 23+ years old.
  • Licensing: Must possess a valid Driver's License (Class A CDL preferred/required depending on specific unit; training and certification path provided).
  • Physicality: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs frequently.
  • Compliance: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, fit-for-duty physical exam and background check.

Ready to grow into a leadership role with the best fleet and crew in the state? Apply today to join a team committed to your development, safety, and long-term career satisfaction.
