What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a long distance delivery driver?

To thrive as a Long Distance Delivery Driver, you need a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), a solid driving record, and knowledge of transportation regulations. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and freight handling equipment is typically required. Strong time management, reliability, and effective communication with dispatch and customers are crucial soft skills. What is a long distance delivery?

Long distance delivery jobs involve transporting goods over large geographic areas, often between cities, states, or even countries. These roles typically require drivers to operate trucks or vans for extended periods, ensuring timely and safe delivery of items.
