Job description

LOOKING FOR CLASS DZ OR HIGHER

If you like staying active and working with a team, this is a great fit!. Burly Boyz Moving is hiring customer-first Furniture Movers! Responsibilities include: driving a moving truck, protecting our customers' property (furniture and home), physically moving our customers' goods in/out of the truck, and delivering a great customer experience. You must have an above average level of Overall Fitness (Strength and Endurance), be Friendly in nature, and be an Above Average Driver with at least 3 years of driving experience with a clean abstract (Commercial Truck Driver training is provided).

3-Phase Training Program

Our in-house training program starts with the basics and finishes with learning how to operate commercial trucks in a safe and efficient manner. This process may take up to 2-3 months described below.

Phase 1:

  • Padding, wrapping, and protecting furniture, floors, railings, and doorways
  • Disassembling and reassembling furniture using basic hand tools
  • Customer Service training
  • Staging and setting up furniture as per our client's requirements
  • Learning our basic software and company processes

Phase 2:

  • Communicating clearly with customers to understand their needs and exceed expectations
  • Completing digital paperwork, including invoices, timesheets, and inspections, using mobile apps
  • Collecting Payments from clients
  • Inventorying our customers' furniture
  • Loading, stacking, and securing goods into our trucks efficiently and safely

Phase 3:

  • Safely operating 3-ton, 5-ton, and 7-ton trucks in residential and urban environments
  • Conducting daily pre-trip inspections and reporting mechanical issues
  • Accurately using E-logs (Samsara) and job management software (Jobber)
  • Leading and directing crew members on-site when assigned as Driver / Lead Mover


What We're Looking For

  • Valid Class D driver's license (or higher) held for at least 3 years
  • Clean driving abstract
  • Physical endurance to perform the duties
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
  • Comfortable driving large commercial vehicles
  • Strong English speaking and writing skills
  • Customer-first attitude and professional appearance
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule with early starts and occasional out-of-town pick-ups and deliveries
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Legally able to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident)

Pay & Compensation

Starting between $25.00-$31.50/hr

Base starting wage at $25.00/hr plus additional depending on commercial driving experience, class license, and previous Long Distance moving experience.

  • +$2.00/hr Class 5 with 3+ years of commercial driving experience
  • +$3.00/hr Class 3 with air brakes & 3+ years commercial experience
  • +$4.00/hr Class 1 with 3+ years commercial experience
  • +$2.50/hr 3+ years long distance moving experience

Tip-friendly environment averaging an additional $24/hr

(Advertised pay range: $25.00 $31.50 per hour)
