Job description

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Long Haul Class A CDL Driver to transport freight safely and efficiently over long-distance and multi-state routes. The driver will be responsible for operating commercial motor vehicles, completing assigned pickups and deliveries, maintaining required driving and inspection records, securing cargo, and complying with all applicable DOT, FMCSA, and company safety requirements.

The ideal candidate is a professional driver who takes pride in safe driving, reliable service, timely deliveries, and maintaining their equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate Class A commercial motor vehicles on long-distance and multi-state routes.
  • Transport and deliver freight according to assigned schedules and dispatch instructions.
  • Conduct required pre-trip, post-trip, and en-route vehicle inspections.
  • Identify and promptly report mechanical issues, safety concerns, or vehicle defects.
  • Properly load, secure, and inspect cargo to prevent shifting or damage during transportation.
  • Maintain accurate electronic logs and other required transportation records.
  • Comply with applicable DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service requirements.
  • Follow assigned routes and use GPS, maps, and dispatch instructions for efficient transportation.
  • Complete bills of lading, delivery receipts, inspection reports, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, shippers, receivers, and company personnel.
  • Report accidents, delays, breakdowns, cargo damage, or other incidents promptly.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned vehicle and equipment.
  • Operate safely in varying traffic, weather, road, and terrain conditions.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and cargo securement when required.
  • Perform other duties related to safe and efficient transportation operations.
Required Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Current DOT medical certification and ability to meet applicable driver qualification requirements.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
  • Ability to comply with applicable DOT/FMCSA drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background and employment screening.
  • Ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel long distances and spend extended periods on the road.
  • Ability to perform required physical activities, including vehicle inspections, climbing into and out of the truck, securing cargo, and loading/unloading when applicable.
  • Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and professional customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous long-haul, over-the-road (OTR), or multi-state trucking experience.
  • Experience operating tractor-trailer combinations.
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and Hours of Service requirements.
  • Experience with the type of freight and equipment used by the company.

To qualify for the Long-Haul Class A CDL Driver position, candidates must meet applicable federal and state requirements for operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce, as well as company safety and qualification standards.

Key DOT driver qualifications:

  • Age: Minimum of 23 years old to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce. 
  • Driver's License: Possess a valid Class A with appropriate endorsements for the vehicle type. 
  • Medical Certification: Pass a DOT physical examination to demonstrate fitness to drive.
