Job description

Description
This position is responsible for safely providing off-campus transportation to Simpson University students. Bus driver will drive university vehicles and will transport passengers to a specific destination as requested. Hours and days will vary, depending on event schedules.
Qualifications:
  • Must have and maintain a valid CA Commercial Driver's License (CDL), class A or class B
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to provide and maintain proof of excellent driving record
  • Minimum of six (6) months documented professional driving experience preferred
  • Must have a service orientation to perform duties in a cooperative, efficient and energetic manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, students and customers
  • Must demonstrate integrity in the performance of all job duties
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Knowledge of DOT/CDL regulations
  • Must be able to sit for long periods, while safely operating the vehicle

Essential Functions:
  • Safely transport people driving buses for Simpson University events, taking into consideration road and traffic conditions, passenger safety and vehicle operational capacity
  • Complete pre and post trip inspections results on appropriate forms, ensuring all forms are filled out properly for CDL paperwork. This includes, but is not limited to recording passenger count, mileage, fuel, and other fluid usages and completes statistical summary by route
  • Conducts pre and post trip safety inspections to confirm vehicles suitability for route completion, including tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, and safety equipment. Incumbent may add fluids, and perform other maintenance tasks if needed
  • Responsible for keeping the interior of the bus clean and safe
