The Logistics Coordinatorprovides logistical support services to Mercy Ships vessels and land-based programs to provided essential medical and general supplies in a timely manner.
Compensation range for this position is $43,000 - $48,000
This is a full time, onsite position located at our office in Lindale, Texas
How You'll Contribute
  • Liaises and communicates with Warehouse Supervisor, Logistics Manager, Procurement Coordinators, and designated personnel on each vessel and land-based teams.
  • Stay up to date on internal company guidelines, international customs and hazardous goods regulations, and maintains relevant certifications.
  • Coordinate outgoing air and ocean shipments ensuring compliance with all relevant shipping regulations (DOT, IATA, ICAO, IMDG, etc.) for hazardous materials.
  • Ensure hazardous materials are properly packaged, labeled, and documented for safe shipment. Maintain records of all hazardous materials.
  • Select appropriate shipping methods for standard, cold chain, and hazmat shipments to optimize cost and delivery time while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Track shipments, update internal shipment tracker, and communicate all issues to Logistics Manager.
  • Oversee Mail Room staff, functions, and duties in absence of Logistics Manager.
  • Maintains alignment and upholds Mercy Ships Core Values, Code of Conduct, and follows the policies and procedures published on Compass.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office with willingness and ability to learn inventory management software system.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in warehouse environment is preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Successful completed of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.

Certifications
  • Multi-Modal Hazmat Certification or ability to get it within 30 days of hire.
