Job description

General program information and/or position overview:
The Undersea Systems Division (USD) is seeking a dynamic Project Manager to join the Leidos team in Lynnwood, WA to support a multidisciplined team in the development of innovative and next generation Navy equipment. The scope of the business activities within this portfolio includes: underwater vehicle systems, maritime sensors, supporting information technology & engineering services for complex maritime applications, development and support of underwater data acquisition and telemetry systems for distributed sensors for platform signature measurement.
The Project Manager will be responsible for supporting a Senior Program Manager in the leadership, execution, development, and growth of a program or programs. The Project Manager will work with a multi-disciplined team of mechanical, software, electrical, and systems engineers. Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, execution, and coordination of one or more projects that may include advanced concept and prototype development, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, test, evaluation, and advancement of cutting-edge technology.
USD is an industry leader in developing, applying, and advancing the state-of-the-art signal processing technologies for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems including distributed netted sensor systems, communications systems, positioning systems, tactical decision systems, and autonomous unmanned platforms. Leidos maritime systems are addressing complex mission requirements and pioneering impressive firsts in the application of advanced signal processing solutions to the full range of maritime missions.
Primary Responsibilities.
  • Lead a multidisciplined team to identify and support customer requirements with innovative, cost-effective, reliable solutions that appropriately leverage advanced technologies in support of U.S. Department of Defense programs.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of subcontractors and vendors.
  • Lead and prepare for daily, weekly, and ad hoc meetings, to include development of agendas, meeting minutes, CDRLs, and action items.
  • Execution of a program or programs of complex, high-reliability ocean hardware/software systems within an ISO 90001 environment.
  • Support business-wide financial and staff planning.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks that could impact project success.
  • Develop proposals for internal and external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics, or other related discipline.
  • 10+ years' total experience.
  • Strong customer focus, ability to support team leadership, and establish strong, collaborative working relationships with government customers, sub-contractors, vendors, technical staff, senior managers, and peers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience applying advanced concepts and principles of project management.
  • US Citizenship reqiured, ability to obtain a Secret clearance required

Preferred Qualifications.
  • Experience with DoD contracts and/or DoD mission.
  • Experience in operating, designing, or managing in a maritime environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing and defined deliverable programs.
  • Experience managing firm fixed price (FFP) programs.
