Job description

The Safety Support Technician reports to the Capstone Logistics Safety Supervisor. This role primarily provide focus on safety and customer service-including but not limited to:

  • Inspect, test and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure they follow safety standards and government regulations. (Audits)
  • Evaluate programs on workplace safety and health.
  • Demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment.
  • Conduct safety meetings and trainings to ensure facility safety compliance.
  • Integral member of team that conducts post-accident investigations and makes recommendations to prevent accident from reoccurring. Assists operation management on accident documentation.
  • Driver retraining and recertification when necessary.
  • First Responder for shift.
  • Informs Leadership team of all aspects of plant safety and health issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management and/or Supervisor.

  • Meeting established procedures and productivity, safety and quality standards

  • Communicating both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Working with all departments, share labor and cross train as required for business needs
  • Ensuring associates have appropriate tools to perform their assigned duties
  • Communicating effectively both with management and associates
  • Auditing all operations to ensure processes are followed according to standard work sheet
  • Collecting of data and reporting of established KPIs, quality reports, audits, financial reporting, material handling equipment reports, site or individual performance tracking and customer required reports
  • Tracking all MHE material and equipment
  • Creating, entering data and managing Microsoft Word and Excel programs
  • Performing other duties as assigned by manager

Experience Requirements and Preferences

  • Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and regulations (OSHA)
  • Ability make decisions in an objective manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Position requires flexibility and understanding that all staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goal of the warehouse (facility management i.e. maintenance, sanitations, etc.)
  • Ability to respond to situations in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Energetic and highly motivated to succeed
  • Proven professional and sound judgment in the management of difficult and / or sensitive matters
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work in multiple systems and ability to input and retrieve data are a must.
  • Attendance at the assigned work facility.
  • Fluency in English

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, bend crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Ten (10%) percent of the work time will be spent in an office setting where the environment is climate controlled. Ninety (90%) percent of work time may be spent in various warehouse or other locations where the environment is not climate controlled (hot and cold seasonally).

Requirements:

  • High-energy individual with a strong work ethic, the work is fast paced and very physical
  • Sit-down/ Standup Forklift Certification or Experience
  • Lift and carry a minimum of up to 25-75lbs, materials handled vary
  • Prior warehouse and/or equipment experience is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate
  • All candidates should be over the age of 18 and will have to undergo a pre-employment drug test and background check
