Our pipeline spans multiple firstinclass programs-backed by a GMPcompliant, brand new radiopharmaceutical facility in Hamilton, we're turning groundbreaking science into realworld impact for patients. Join us at the forefront of radiopharma innovation and be part of turning breakthrough science into meaningful outcomes for patients-come build what's next with us.
The Role: The Director of Logistics will oversee and optimize the transportation, storage, and distribution of Fusion's products. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing the transportation of radiopharmaceuticals between Fusion's site in Hamilton, ON, CDMOs in Canada and the United States, and clinical sites, ensuring seamless logistics operations to support clinical trials and eventual commercialization efforts. The role will also lead clinical logistics readiness activities for geographic expansion beyond the United States and Canada, establishing scalable logistics models for new countries and regions.
This role will report to the Head of Global Supply Chain & Strategy. Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies to ensure efficient and timely transportation of products, considering their short shelf life and specific handling requirements. Manage relationships with courier services to ensure efficient and reliable transportation of time-sensitive materials, coordinating pickups and deliveries to meet tight deadlines.
Collaborate closely with CDMOs to optimize transportation processes and resolve any issues that may arise. Lead clinical logistics readiness planning for expansion into countries outside the United States and Canada, including the assessment of country-specific transportation lanes, customs requirements, import permits, storage capabilities, delivery timelines, and product-handling requirements. Partner with local country teams, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to establish fit-for-purpose logistics processes that support clinical trial initiation and ongoing supply continuity in new geographies.
Identify, select, and manage third-party logistics providers and other local service partners, including companies that can act as Importer of Record (IOR), customs brokers, local depots, specialty couriers, and temperature-controlled storage providers. Define and oversee the operating model for Importer of Record services, ensuring clear accountability for import documentation, customs clearance, regulatory compliance, taxation and duties, product release requirements, and delivery to clinical sites. Develop country-specific logistics readiness plans, including standard operating procedures, service-level agreements, lane qualification, contingency plans, vendor qualification, and readiness assessments before clinical supply is shipped.
Continuously evaluate and optimize route mapping to minimize lead times, reduce costs, and improve product availability. Find opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to improve overall logistics efficiency. Implement robust contingency plans to address unforeseen events and ensure business continuity.
Ensure that international shipments align with applicable import and export regulations, including country-specific requirements for radiopharmaceuticals, dangerous goods, customs documentation, permits, product classification, and chain-of-custody controls. Proactively identify potential risks and challenges within the logistics network and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions to supply chain operations. Establish benchmarks to track and measure the performance of logistics operations.
Generate regular reports and analytics to assess performance against established benchmarks and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Clinical Operations, and Regulatory Affairs, to ensure alignment and integration of logistics activities with overall business objectives. Establish governance with local teams and external logistics partners to monitor shipment performance, import clearance, temperature control, delivery reliability, deviations, and corrective and preventive actions across all supported geographies.
Provide strong leadership and guidance to the logistics team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. Mentor and develop team members to build a high-performing logistics organization. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
Advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in logistics management, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Proven track record of successfully managing logistics operations for products with short shelf life and specific handling requirements.
Experience developing and accomplishing clinical logistics readiness plans for international or geographic expansion, preferably across markets outside the United States and Canada. Demonstrated experience working with local country teams and managing third-party providers supporting international clinical supply, including Importer of Record providers, customs brokers, specialty couriers, local depots, and temperature-controlled logistics partners. Experience managing relationships with external partners, such as CDMOs, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and quality standards relevant to the transportation and handling of pharmaceutical products. Working knowledge of international import and export requirements, customs clearance, Incoterms, product classification, and country-specific requirements for clinical trial materials and/or radiopharmaceuticals. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, local country collaborators, and external partners.
Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong focus on continuous improvement. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Export/import experience is desirable.
