Job Description and Where You Fit In

The Feedstocks Manager for GreenCore Biofuels is a critical commercial and operational role with the individual responsible for securing feedstock supply and ensuring the feedstock portfolio is bankable, biologically suitable, contractually secure, and economically optimised.

Within the GreenCore Biofuels portfolio, the Feedstocks Manager is viewed as the person responsible for protecting each facility's single largest operational risk— feedstock supply. This role is considered one of the most influential positions in achieving stable operations, maximizing RNG production, and protecting long-term project value.

The Feedstocks Manager is expected to combine expertise across biology, agriculture, waste management, logistics, and commercial contracting. They understand not only what feedstocks to source, but also how those feedstocks affect digester performance, project economics, supplier relationships, and capital deployment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Key accountabilities include:

A. Feedstocks procurement: Develop and execute sourcing strategies to secure long-term feedstock supplies, negotiate supply agreements, develop relationships with agricultural producers, food manufacturers, municipalities, and waste haulers. Secure new suppliers to replace attrition.

B. Feedstock portfolio management: Maintain a diversified supply base and a balance among agricultural residues, manure, Fats, Oils & Greases (FOGs), food processing wastes, high-strength liquids (HSL) while avoiding overreliance on a single supplier or feedstock type.

C. Feedstocks quality management: Work with Facility Operations team to provide feedback to suppliers on the quality of supplied feedstocks (moisture content, total solids (TS), volatile solids (VS), contaminants, plastics and inert materials, sulfur, chloride, and ammonia contributors; Coordinate laboratory testing and acceptance protocols with Production Operations.

D. Logistics management: Coordinate feedstocks deliveries schedules between Facility Operations and feedstock suppliers; Optimize transport routes; Coordinate storage and inventory; Minimize trucking costs and waiting time.

E. Digester optimization support: Work closely with Production Operations staff to maintain target carbon-to-nitrogen (C:N) ratios, manage organic loading rates, avoid ammonia inhibition and acidification, balance seasonal variations in feedstock availability

What You Bring

The Feedstock Manager role requires

Essential skills/knowledge in:

·Agricultural residue expertise: For straw-based feedstock streams, knowledge should include wheat straw, canola straw, barley straw, oat straw, corn stover, flax straw, etc. including their harvesting methods, baling practices, storage losses, moisture management, ash and silica content, seasonal availability, competing markets (animal bedding, mushroom compost, biomass fuel). Experience with long-term grower contracts is highly valuable.

·Food wastes and FOGs expertise: should understand the basic characteristics of various foodwastes (e.g. brewery residuals, bakery waste, dairy waste, fruit and vegetable waste, meat processing residuals, expired packaged food, source-separated organics (SSO), high-strength liquids (HSL)) and wastes fats (e.g. grease trap/interceptor wastes, used cooking oil (UCO)) including contaminant risks and pre-processing needs.

·Regulatory knowledge: To help ensure regulatory compliance and avoid disruptions to facility production operations, the Feedstocks Manager should understand regulations affecting: waste transport, agricultural residues, organic waste diversion, contamination standards, digestate management, environmental permitting, biosecurity (for animal by-products), food waste handling, noxious weed and invasive species concerns in agricultural biomass

·Data and analytical skills: Leverages data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools to identify trends, measure performance, and support data-driven decision-making. The Feedstocks Manager should be comfortable using spreadsheets and business intelligence tools to track various metrics: Tons delivered/day (for supplier reliability), Feedstock cost/ton (for procurement efficiency), Transportation cost/ton (to optimise logistics), Methane yield (for biological performance), MMBtu produced/ton (conversion efficiency), Tipping fee revenue (commercial performance), supplier concentration (to manage portfolio risks), Contracted vs Spot volumes (for supply security). An ability to forecast seasonal availability and model supply scenarios is particularly valuable.

. Anaerobic digestion fundamentals: basic understanding of anaerobic digestion

Experience in:

·Commercial: Contract formation with experience negotiating:

o feedstock supply agreements

o tipping fee arrangements

o transportation terms

o minimum volume commitments

o exclusivity provisions

o quality specifications

o contamination thresholds

o indemnities

o force majeure

o assignment rights

o termination provisions

These contracts underpin facility/project revenue and financing decisions.

· Supplier relationship management: Since the role requires on-going engagement beyond feedstocks procurement, success requires maintaining strong relationships with farmers, food processors, municipalities, waste collection companies, renderers, restaurants, grease haulers

·Logistics and operations experience with fleet scheduling, trucking procurement, transfer stations, feedstock storage, inventory control, bale yards, tanker operations, walking-floor trailers, seasonal stockpile management is highly beneficial.

Preferred experience profile

The preferred candidate should have:

• 7–15 years in feedstock procurement, agricultural commodities, waste management, or bioenergy
• Experience negotiating multi-year supply agreements
• Knowledge of anaerobic digestion feedstocks and logistics
• Familiarity with both agricultural and food processing sectors
• Track record of managing supply risk and supplier relationships

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management (Supply Chain Management), engineering, economics, commerce, humanities

Experience in industries such as grain handling, livestock feed, food manufacturing by-products, organics recycling, or renewable fuels can be highly transferable.

Dimensions of the role

·Market intelligence: Understanding the competitive regional markets for feedstocks is critical to anticipating shifts in availability and pricing, the Feedstocks Manager should have the ability to monitor competing markets for feedstocks, including livestock feed, composting, rendering, biomass power, pellet manufacturing, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and biofuel pathways (where relevant)

·Leadership and communication: Strong negotiation, communication, interface and stakeholder management skills are essential, as the Feedstocks Manager role requires coordination across various organisational functions: procurement, operations, laboratory, finance, legal, trucking contractors, suppliers, etc.

·Remote working with periodic travel to the RNG operational facility in Oregon, USA and the local region to engage with feedstocks suppliers.
