We are seeking a motivated and experienced Truckload Specialist to join our growing logistics team. In this role, you will execute core transportation and freight brokerage functions that support efficient, cost-effective, and customer-focused freight operations. The ideal candidate has prior freight brokering experience, strong market knowledge, excellent negotiation skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.


As a Truckload Specialist, you will collaborate with internal teams, customers, and carriers to ensure freight is moved safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards while contributing to continuous operational improvement, all while joining a team that lives by our core values: Customer Obsessed, Team Focused, Be Valuable, Do the Right Thing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate freight rates with carriers to secure competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.
  • Utilize market pricing knowledge to manage maximum buy thresholds.
  • Source carrier capacity using load boards and transportation management tools.
  • Oversee the carrier onboarding and vetting process, ensuring compliance with safety, insurance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Execute strategic carrier procurement to secure reliable transportation capacity.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and resolve transportation issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitor shipment progress and communicate updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Track and contribute to key performance metrics to support operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members by sharing knowledge, supporting department initiatives, and contributing to company goals.


Qualifications

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree or coursework in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related field.

Experience

Preferred: 12 years of freight brokerage or transportation logistics experience.

Authority

This position is authorized to:

  • Negotiate carrier rates within established pricing guidelines.
  • Book and assign freight using approved carrier partners.
  • Select routing and transportation modes based on service and cost requirements.
  • Approve standard carrier vetting requirements while escalating exceptions when necessary.
  • Establish over-the-road (OTR) pay within approved limits.
  • Resolve routine service issues involving carriers and customers.
