How Your Role Fits In

As a Transportation Coordinator, you will manage a dedicated customer account base while building solid relationships with customers and carriers. Secure carriers to match customer freight needs and enter load information in relative systems. Work with sales team on new business opportunities and seek potential opportunities with existing customers. Assist the Transportation Management team in contracts, systems, training, SOPs, and projects on an as needed basis.

What you’ll do:

  • Create and maintain high level of satisfaction with all customers and carriers.
  • Enter shipment information into transportation management software for tracking, invoicing, and historical reference.
  • Focus on cross departmental collaboration to grow your account base and enhance relationships.
  • Facilitate claims between customer and carrier.
  • Stay up to date on market trends and new advancements in technology.
  • Aid with creation and updating of departmental SOPs and SOWs.
  • Strive to hit or exceed departmental and personal goals.
  • Attend and/or lead customer visits.
  • Participate in Customer RFPs.
  • Collaborate with Transportation team to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Communicate with customers to determine transportation needs and arrange carrier capacity.
  • Actively participate in revenue generating activities such as inside sales and marketing to carriers and customers.
  • Research, analyze, and negotiate freight costs, delivery methods and delivery schedules to minimize cost and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Research new carriers and accurately on board them, including necessary agreements and insurance documentation.
  • Perform a variety of other tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned by management.

What it takes to succeed:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum two years of transportation experience required.
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Tools (Ability to leverage Excel and other MS programs including, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint).
  • Strong background in account development.
  • Drive for continuous improvement and personal development.
  • CTB Certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience using TMS (Transportation Management Systems) is preferred but not required.
