GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Logistics Loading Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily outbound loading operations to ensure shipments are completed safely, accurately, and on time. This role leads a team of loading associates, coordinates with production, transportation, and planning teams, and drives efficiency, quality, and safety within the shipping function.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Supervise Daily Operations

  • Oversee all loading activities to ensure timely and accurate shipment of finished goods
  • Monitor workload, staffing, and dock schedules to meet shipping deadlines
  • Coordinate priorities with production, planning, and logistics teams


Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of hourly logistics/loading associates
  • Provide clear direction, training, and performance feedback
  • Support attendance management, productivity tracking, and engagement initiatives


Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all safety policies and procedures (OSHA, company standards)
  • Conduct routine safety audits and address hazards promptly
  • Ensure proper material handling, loading techniques, and equipment usage


Quality & Accuracy

  • Ensure shipments are loaded correctly and match shipping documentation
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, damages, or shipment errors
  • Maintain inventory integrity during the loading process


Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve loading efficiency and reduce delays
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (lean, 5S, standard work)
  • Track KPIs such as on-time shipping, accuracy, and productivity


Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with transportation carriers, warehouse teams, and production
  • Communicate delays, issues, and priorities proactively
  • Ensure alignment between shipping schedules and customer requirements


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3–5+ years of experience in logistics, warehouse, or shipping operations
  • 1–3 years of supervisory or team lead experience preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing or high-volume distribution environment strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of shipping processes, inventory control, and material handling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP, Oracle, or WMS systems
  • Lean / Six Sigma exposure
