The mission of the MSTP is to provide training in MAGTF operations across the range of military operations, within the context of a Joint and/or Combined Task Force environment, to improve the warfighting skills, with the main effort of providing training and support.

Job Summary


Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a Simulation system (MAGTF Tactical Warfighting Simulation (MTWS), Joint Deployment Logistics Model (JDLM), Air, Space and Cyberspace Constructive Environment - Information Operations Suite (ACE-IOS)) Systems Administrator who must possess strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills, in addition to in-depth technical knowledge of the Government's systems' hardware and software. The Simulation Systems Administrator studies program operating instructions to determine equipment setup and operations. Continuously observes the operation of assigned applications and storage devices to monitor system operation and determines the point of hardware or software failure. This position manipulates systems in accordance with standard procedures to continue operations when individual units of a system malfunction. Conferring with software systems engineering or applications programming personnel if errors require a change of instructions or sequences of operations. Maintaining operating records such as machine performance and production reports and system logbooks. This position shall be responsible for ensuring system availability and reliability of the MSTP simulation systems (MTWS, JDLM, ACE-IOS) on the networks. The Simulation Systems Administrator reports to and receives work direction from the MSTP Exercise Section Head


Requirements

  • IAT Level II 
  • Install and configure operating system software, patches, and upgrades for various simulation system servers and clients, analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving system hardware, software, and networking issues
  • Experience with both Windows and Red Hat operating systems
  • Maintain simulation servers and clients, ensuring functionality of the systems and external links.
  • Configuring, optimizing, fine-tuning, and monitoring operating system software and hardware.
  • Performing system backups and recovery.
  • Conducting server builds
  • Establishes complex operational databases, software configuration control and systems.
  • Sets up interfaces and federations with other simulation systems and/or C2 systems. 
  • Maintains file servers, network access; documents, analyzes, and troubleshoots systems anomalies to ensure optimum equipment performance.
  • Educational Requirements: BA/BS or equivalent. Candidates may substitute substantial, relevant experience for education for this position.
  • Certification Requirements: DoD 8140.01 IAT II; SEC+

 Desired Skills/Qualifications


  • A minimum of 2-4 years of related experience
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • Possess a thorough understanding of all aspects of Operations and technologies
  • Abreast of industry developments and applicable Government regulations
  • Make recommendations for enhancing services.
  • Research operational issues and provides mitigation recommendations.
  • Strong oral and written communications, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent judgement and self-motivation
  • Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook skills. 
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. 
  • Works independently with little to no supervision researching new technologies or comparing technologies to meet the customers need while providing an unbiased opinion.
  • Working knowledge of network and information exchange technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, RESTful, SOAP and HTTP)

  • 10-25%, mainly to Camp Pendleton, CA; Camp Lejeune, NC; Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan
