Role Purpose

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the efficient flow of materials, products, and services throughout the organization. This role coordinates shipping and receiving activities, packaging of customer products, vendor-managed secondary processing services, and inventory of shipping and packaging supplies to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. The position serves as a key liaison with carriers, vendors, and internal departments to support operational and customer requirements.

Scope & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform assigned duties in accordance with documented procedures, work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Process all daily inbound and outbound shipments to support customer and operational requirements.
  • Package customer products and materials in accordance with customer specifications and company standards to ensure products arrive free from damage or defects.
  • Prepare and process shipping documentation including packing lists, bills of lading, customs documentation, shipping labels, and carrier records.
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments while ensuring compliance with applicable shipping regulations and customer requirements.
  • Schedule carrier pickups and coordinate local deliveries and pick-ups as required.
  • Track shipments and communicate delivery status, delays, or issues to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Verify incoming materials and shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documentation.
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage, discrepancies, or quality concerns and communicate issues to the appropriate departments.
  • Perform basic inspection of parts and materials as required prior to shipment or receipt.
  • Coordinate all secondary processing and outside service activities, including:
  • Generating purchase orders for outside processing services.
  • Obtaining quotations from approved vendors.
  • Communicating with vendors regarding scheduling, status updates, and delivery requirements.
  • Tracking material movement to and from vendors.
  • Packaging materials appropriately for outside processing shipments.
  • Manage shipping carrier relationships, including FedEx, UPS, freight carriers, and courier services.
  • Maintain relationships with approved outside service providers and ensure timely completion of required services.
  • Work directly with carrier account representatives to optimize shipping services, resolve shipping issues, and maintain account performance.
  • Maintain inventory levels of shipping and receiving supplies including boxes, tape, labels, packaging materials, pallets, and related consumables.
  • Reorder shipping and packaging supplies as necessary to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support inventory movement, storage, and material handling activities throughout the facility.
  • Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, purchasing, vendor, and logistics records within company systems.
  • Operate a company vehicle to pick up and deliver orders, materials, and supplies to various locations, including vendors, customers, and other designated facilities, as needed.
Work Experience & Skills Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum 2โ€“5 years of experience in shipping, receiving, logistics coordination, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with parcel carriers such as FedEx and UPS required.
  • Experience coordinating outside processing vendors and purchase orders preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and shipping software preferred.
Skills / Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, packaging, and logistics processes.
  • Familiarity with domestic and international shipping requirements and documentation.
  • Experience creating and managing purchase orders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze shipping costs, delivery performance, and logistics data.
  • Understanding of inventory management and material handling practices.
Certifications/Licenses:
  • Forklift Certification required or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
