Summaryย 

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of freight handling, ensuring timely and efficient movement of goods. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, managing operational processes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.ย 

Duties and Responsibilitiesย 

  • Lead and supervise a team of freight handlers and operational staff.ย 

  • Assign tasks, provide guidance, and monitor performance to ensure efficient operations.ย 

  • Coordinate the loading, unloading, and handling of freight shipments.ย 

  • Ensure proper documentation, labeling, and packaging of goods in compliance with regulations.ย 

  • Plan and prioritize freight operations to meet customer demands and deadlines.ย 

  • Monitor workflow and adjust resources as needed to optimize efficiency.ย 

  • Liaise with customers, carriers, and other stakeholders to coordinate freight movements and address inquiries or issues.ย 

  • Ensure timely communication and resolution of customer concerns.ย 

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy and integrity of freight handling processes.ย 

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain high standards of service quality.ย 

  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to promote a safe working environment.ย 

  • Conduct safety training and provide guidance on proper handling techniques.ย 

  • Oversee inventory control processes, including stock management, cycle counts, and reconciliation.ย 

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure compliance with inventory management policies.ย 

  • Prepare operational reports, including performance metrics, inventory levels, and incident reports.ย 

  • Maintain accurate documentation of freight movements, including bills of lading and shipping manifests.ย 

Educational background / Work experienceย 

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications or training in freight operations management are advantageous.ย 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in freight operations or logistics roles, with demonstrated experience in supervisory or leadership positions.ย 

Skills & Competenciesย 

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.ย 

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.ย 

  • Knowledge of freight handling processes and regulatory requirements.ย 

  • Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS).ย
