Job description

STORE OPERATIONS MANAGER (FULL-TIME)

MEDIA CENTER DEPARTMENT

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The First Baptist Church of Glenarden Media Center serves as a ministry resource hub that supports discipleship and spiritual growth through in-store and online retail operations, curated product offerings, and major churchwide events.

The Store Operations Manager leads the day-to-day store and e-commerce operations of the Media Center, including inventory management, fbcgbookstore.org site oversight, major event planning, author book submissions and consignment management, store equipment and supply oversight, and facilities coordination.

This position reports to the Director of Media Center Operations.

Schedule flexibility is required. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and periodically travel for on-site and off-site church events as necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Customer Care staff teams (in-store sales, phone orders, special customer orders, and local pick-ups).
  • Manage in-store and online inventory, including daily electronic ordering, stock replenishment, and maintaining on-hand inventory levels.
  • Oversee fbcgbookstore.org site logistics including product imaging, updates, WooCommerce analytics reporting, and seasonal promotions.
  • Provide leadership in planning, preparation, and execution of major churchwide events.
  • Alternate with the Sales and Merchandising Manager to lead product preparation, load-out, pop-up store logistics, and event travel.
  • Process customer orders from walk-ins, phone orders, and online purchases.
  • Assist with Church Business Operations (CBO) bi-weekly, monthly, annual, and special reporting.
  • Create and maintain administrative records and operational files.
  • Process monthly store and office supply orders (Guernsey, Uline, Amazon, etc.).
  • Coordinate facility repairs and equipment maintenance at Worship Center and Ministry Center locations.
  • Manage new book submissions and execute author consignment agreements following approval.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and sales support to congregation, staff, guests, and high-visibility clients.
  • Support Media Center volunteers through mobilization and training.
  • Participate in quarterly CBO and Media Center training opportunities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional store environment.
  • Follow all FBCG and Media Center policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be saved, have a servantโ€™s heart, and be a member in good standing of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden, or willing to become a member in good standing of FBCG.
  • Must be able to submit to authorities as defined by the Pastor.
  • Must possess a gracious, Christ-like demeanor in demanding situations.
  • Must have an understanding and appreciation for the ministry and mission of FBCG.
  • Must be a self-starter with exceptional administrative efficiency, organizational ability, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Must possess excellent customer service, verbal and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills with knowledge of point-of-sale software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with technology is required.
  • 5+ years of retail store management experience required.
  • Ability to perform desk-based computer tasks and regularly bend, lift, stand, and climb.
