Job description

Position Description: CGI Federal is seeking an Intermediate Logistics Specialist to support the end-to-end lifecycle of material flow, distribution, sustainment, and resource management for a Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) US Army program. This role ensures that logistics operations-from acquisition through delivery, reuse, and disposal-operate efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with mission requirements. The Logistics Specialist coordinates with internal teams, government customers, suppliers, and transportation providers to maintain timely material movement, resolve logistics issues, and implement improvements across supply chain and logistics systems.

This position plays a key role in ensuring that critical modernization equipment is available, traceable, and properly supported throughout its lifecycle. This position is located in Huntsville, AL. Your future duties and responsibilities: Material Flow & Distribution Management .

Implement and manage material flow systems to meet program and customer requirements . Coordinate acquisition, transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities for program assets . Monitor inbound and outbound product movement and ensure proper handling and documentation Lifecycle Logistics & Sustainment Support .

Support full lifecycle logistics functions including acquisition, internal allocation, delivery, reuse, and disposal . Manage or coordinate reverse logistics processes for returned, refurbished, or recycled materials . Maintain accountability, visibility, and traceability of equipment throughout its lifecycle Regulatory & Compliance Oversight .

Monitor import/export activities to ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and transportation requirements . Maintain accurate documentation including shipping records, compliance files, and transaction logs . Coordinate with compliance and security teams on controlled items, hazardous materials, or restricted shipments Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement .

Implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems, workflows, and processes . Identify inefficiencies and recommend enhancements to increase speed, accuracy, or cost-effectiveness . Contribute to development of logistics procedures, work instructions, and process standards Data, Metrics & Reporting .

Maintain logistics metrics, performance reports, inventory records, and process documentation . Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and assist in data-driven logistics decision-making . Maintain customer service logs and training or safety records relevant to logistics operations Issue Resolution & Problem Solving .

Resolve operational problems related to transportation, materials handling, logistics systems, or customer concerns . Investigate discrepancies in shipments, inventory counts, or compliance documentation . Coordinate corrective actions with internal teams, suppliers, and external customers Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Education .

BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field . Substitutions allowed: - One academic year of accredited coursework in a related program may substitute for one year of experience - An additional 5 years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement Experience . 5+ years of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) or lifecycle logistics experience within a DoD environment .

Experience supporting logistics operations such as transportation, distribution, warehousing, or sustainment . Experience maintaining logistics processes, metrics, and compliance documentation Technical Skills & Knowledge . Knowledge of Defense logistics principles, sustainment processes, and ILS elements .

Understanding of import/export regulations and transportation compliance requirements . Experience with logistics systems, material tracking tools, or supply chain software . Ability to maintain detailed records, reports, and process documentation Work Style & Abilities .

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously . Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external partners . Ability to resolve logistics issues, analyze data, and implement process improvements Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required: Advanced Logistics Expertise .

Experience with reverse logistics, disposal planning, or recycling programs . Familiarity with integrated Defense logistics systems (e.g., GCSS-Army, LMP, DSS) Tools & Systems . Experience with ERP/SCM systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms .

Proficiency with logistics analytics tools or dashboards Certifications . DAWIA Life Cycle Logistics (Level I or II) . APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP) .

SOLE - Certified Professional Logistician (CPL) Additional Skills . Experience training teams in logistics processes or global logistics practices . Ability to support logistics planning for fielding, exercises, or sustainment events .

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role.

Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $51,600.00 - $110,100.00.
