Job description

Position Summary

The Senior SAP TM Consultant designs, configures, and optimizes SAP Transportation Management solutions to support complex logistics and supply chain operations. This role leads requirement-gathering efforts, delivers high-quality functional designs, and ensures seamless integration across SAP systems. The Senior Consultant also mentors junior team members, provides expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle, and supports clients through testing, deployment, and ongoing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages small projects, creating and maintaining reports and visualizations, collaborating with other departments, training associate analysts, and creating processes and procedures for existing projects.

  • Collaborates with clients and business stakeholders to gather and analyze transportation management requirements.

  • Translates business requirements into functional specifications for SAP TM implementation and customization.

  • Configures SAP TM modules based on business requirements, including transportation planning, freight order management, carrier selection, and tendering.

  • Customizes SAP TM to meet specific client needs, such as defining transportation zones, carrier profiles, rates, and optimization rules.

  • Performs functional testing to ensure the proper functioning of SAP TM configurations and customizations.

  • Identifies and resolves issues, defects, and gaps during the testing phase to ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Creates user manuals, configuration guides, and training materials for SAP TM processes and functionalities.

  • Conducts training sessions for end-users and client personnel on SAP TM usage and best practices.

  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, solution architects, developers, and functional consultants to ensure seamless integration of SAP TM with other SAP modules (e.g., SAP ECC, S/4HANA, etc.).

  • Provides timely support and resolution to client issues related to SAP TM functionality, configuration, and data.

  • Collaborates with technical teams to investigate and resolve technical issues impacting SAP TM functionality, as well as to support system integration, data migration, and interface development.

  • Stays up to date with the latest SAP TM functionality, enhancements, and best practices.

  • Experience supporting hazmat/dangerous goods shipping processes in a DoD or federal supply chain environment, including familiarity with military shipping and hazmat certification requirements (e.g., Defense Transportation Regulation compliance)
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and optimization with SAP TM.

  • Work with assigned team lead, architect, and team as required.

  • Travels up to 50% to support workshops, testing, implementation, and go-live activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management or other related field, OR equivalent years of experience.
  • 7-10 years of experience required, with at least two full lifecycles with SAP TM implementations and leading at least 1 Full life cycle
  • Experience in configuring and customizing SAP TM functionalities, including transportation planning, freight order management, carrier selection, and optimization.
  • Experience in conducting functional testing and supporting quality assurance activities.
  • SAP TM certification or relevant SAP certifications are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in SAP transportation management (TM) modules.
  • Hands on experience with SAP TM integration and other SAP modules and components, such as SAP ECC or S/4HANA.
  • Knowledge of SAP Activate or ASAP methodology for project implementation is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of transportation management concepts, industry-specific requirements, and logistics processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in diverse cross-functional teams and simultaneously manage multiple tasks and competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into SAP TM solutions.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation: In accordance with pay transparency law, the expected salary range for this position is $120,000 - $165,000 annually. The actual compensation offered will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
