Job Title: Supervisor - Material Planning
A Materials Planning Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient flow of materials within a manufacturing or production environment
Job Description:
Supervisor will oversee the material planning and processes to ensure the timely and efficient supply of materials required for production. This role involves coordinating with various departments, managing inventory ordering parameters and optimizing supply chain operations to meet production goals and minimize costs.
Essential Functions and Activities:
  • Develop and implement material planning strategies to ensure the availability of materials for production.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, and logistics teams to align material supply with production schedules.
  • Analyze material requirements and forecast future needs based on production plans and sales forecasts.
  • Identify and resolve any material shortages or excesses to prevent production delays.
  • Ensures compliance with delivery expectations to achieve supplier on-time performance.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material planning processes and reduce costs.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of material planners.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.

Qualifications required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in material planning, inventory management, or supply chain management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in material planning software and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Leadership experience and the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Material Requirements Planning (MRP): Proficiency in MRP systems to forecast material needs and schedule procurement.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): Familiarity with ERP software like SAP or Oracle to manage supply chain processes
  • Inventory Management: Ability to optimize inventory levels and minimize waste using PFEP methodologies.
  • Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma: Knowledge of lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies to improve efficiency and reduce defects.
  • Forecasting: Strong ability to predict future material needs based on production schedules and market trends.

Qualifications beneficial to the job:
  • Certifications: APICS Certification: Certification from the Association for Supply Chain Management (APICS) can be highly beneficial.
  • ISO Standards: Understanding and implementing ISO standards related to materials management.
