Job Summary:
Our Drivers at Lapham-Hickey Steel are an important point of contact with our customers. Load, secure and deliver
flat-rolled coil steel materials in a safe, efficient, timely and professional manner.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Drive Tractor Trailer to make steel deliveries as dispatched by LH Rome.
- Conduct Pre-trip and Post-trip inspections.
- Keep track of on-duty hours and driving hours by use of JJ Keller ELD System or manual log book.
- Position cargo to meet legal weight limits
- Secure cargo by safest way possible in accordance with DOT guidelines.
- Keep cargo protected from weather and damage by using tarp and chain protectors.
- Keep paperwork organized and accurately turn in payroll.
- Take truck to shop for regular maintenance or repairs as needed.
- Document and report any incidents or accidents. Take pictures and remove debris if possible.
- Wear all PPE as required where loading or unloading.
- Be professional when dealing with the public and customers
- Other duties as instructed by management
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must have a current unrestricted Class A CDL License.
- Driving Experience Recommended.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic Computer Skills
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds and to climb onto the bed and into the cab of the truck.
