Job description

Position Details: We are seeking board-certified Neurologists for a locum tenens opportunity in Southern California, near Corona. This fully remote tele-neurology role is ideal for physicians licensed in California who are comfortable providing care for non-emergent neurological cases through a virtual platform. Coverage is needed from December 2, 2024, through January 6, 2025, with Monday to Friday availability preferred. Temporary privileges can be granted quickly upon application completion.

Assignment Highlights:

  • Coverage Schedule: Monday - Friday, with flexible shift availability considered
  • Setting: Telehealth, supporting a local facility through virtual care only (no in-person requirements)
  • Privileges: Temporary privileges can be expedited for quick onboarding

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct remote neurological evaluations for admitted, non-emergent patients with secure, compliant, bi-directional video technology.
  • Coordinate with local facility staff (radiologists, hospitalists, pharmacists, nurses, and therapists) to support comprehensive patient care and avoid unnecessary transfers.
  • Manage a caseload of 6-8 patients per shift.
  • Review and interpret diagnostic exams as needed (unofficial radiologic interpretations).
  • Conduct specialized neurological procedures including:
    • EEG (Electroencephalogram) assessments
    • Lumbar punctures
    • Diagnostic/therapeutic taps
    • Botox administration for neurological conditions
    • Brain death examinations
    • Peripheral nerve and epidural blocks, as well as other specialized neuro-diagnostic services

Requirements:

  • Licensure: Active California medical license
  • Board Certification: Board-certified in Neurology
  • Experience: Comfortable with tele-neurology and interpreting neurological exams in a remote setting
  • EMR System: Epic experience preferred (training provided as needed)
  • Additional Certifications: None required beyond board certification
