Job description

Process Engineer PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are a growing organization seeking a talented Process Engineer to join our team as a pivotal member here at PBF Energy. This role is located at Chalmette Refinery in Chalmette, LA.

JOB SUMMARY

The Process Engineer provides technical support to the refinery with a focus on process monitoring, troubleshooting, asset improvement, and technology selection

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow and promote the site’s Loss Prevention System (LPS) and ensure all activities are safety and loss prevention focused.
  • Perform daily unit monitoring and troubleshooting to analyze and optimize process unit operating performance.
  • Issue technical guidance to operations to achieve unit operation targets.
  • Understand key operating limits and unit constraints.
  • Drive operating limits, efficiency, and raw material/capacity utilization improvements.
  • Identify opportunities/projects to improve unit operation.
  • Develop and support test runs and data collection and analysis.
  • Respond to plant operational events and support planned and unplanned unit outages/turnarounds, including day/night shift during these events and confined space entry.
  • Generate regularly scheduled unit health summary and environmental reports.
  • Monitors chemical and catalyst usage and performance. Participates in catalysts and chemicals selection.
  • Support Process Safety Management programs, including Management of Change and Incident Investigations.
  • Drive site asset improvement in the areas of safety, reliability, environmental performance and process unit capability and efficiency in a team setting.
  • Communicates and interacts regularly with Operations, Technical, Economics and Planning, and Maintenance business team members.
  • Conduct unit field visits as needed to assist in data collection for unit troubleshooting and project development, includes climbing ladders and stairs and occasionally working from heights with the use of a harness.
  • Mentor interns and less experienced engineers.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering required; Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • New graduate to 6 years of experience. Oil refinery or petrochemical complex experience preferred for experienced engineers.
  • For new graduates, professional experience (internships and co-ops) within an oil refinery or petrochemical complex is preferred.
