Job description

OB/GYN Locum Tenens Opportunity — Shawnee Health | Southern Illinois
Shawnee Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center serving Southern Illinois, is seeking a dedicated OB/GYN Locum Tenens Provider to support our growing Women’s Health services. This opportunity offers a balanced schedule of clinic, hospital coverage, and collaboration with our team of Certified Nurse Midwives and Women’s Health practitioners.
Opportunity Highlights:
  • Full-time locum coverage needed
  • Daily clinic and hospital-based obstetrics care
  • FTCA malpractice insurance provided
  • Flexible assignment with potential for extension
  • Supportive, collaborative environment focused on quality patient care
Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive obstetric care, including managing labor and deliveries
  • Conduct outpatient clinic visits (up to 25 patients/day)
  • Manage routine and high-risk pregnancies
  • Provide backup call coverage for Certified Nurse Midwives
  • Perform patient rounds and assessments in Labor amp; Delivery
  • Respond to emergent OB situations as needed
  • Utilize EPIC EMR in hospital setting; Athena EMR in clinic
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and healthcare staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Requirements:
  • Active Illinois medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • Board Certified/Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Experience in hospital-based OB/GYN care essential
  • Comfort managing diverse and complex OB/GYN cases
  • Ability to work extended hours and provide 24-hour coverage as needed
  • Commitment to maintaining high professional standards and quality of care
Education amp; Training:
  • State of Illinois Licensed Physician and Surgeon
  • State of Illinois Controlled Substance License
  • Federal (DEA) Registration Certificate
  • Board Certified or Board eligible for OB/GYN
