What You Will Do:
Role Summary/Purpose
- Mechanical Engineer will play the key role in the technical responsibility of requisition work of the Locomotive Truck (Bogie) sub system and ensure design complies with subsystem / System level requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
- Define the Truck subsystem and its components for locomotive requisitions following robust Engineering Process.
- Capture and consolidate all requirements, coordinate the Truck component interface with other subsystems and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory specifications.
- Must lead documentation of locomotive Truck components covering various types of projects like NPI, requisition, productivity, service productivity & reliability etc.
- Must lead projects by adhering to customer processes and assist cross functional teams to support assigned projects; meeting business standards and program / product requirements.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated and leverage it for training/ leaning and effort optimization.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelors /master's degree in mechanical engineering with minimum 2 years of requisition experience in Locomotive truck/ automotive suspension & steering/ automotive chassis or heavy fabrication engineering areas.
- Should have engineering experience on definition of components required to meet customer specifications
- Technical understanding and capabilities in specification review, product definition and documentation.
- Demonstrated interpersonal Skills to interface effectively with cross functional teams. Should be able to resolve inter sub-system issues through specific actions.
- Experience of guiding CAD team to develop 3-D models and packaging concepts & drawing needs.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Characteristics
- Master degree in Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace etc
- Good understanding of rail standards such as AAR, EN, RGS, UIC, and APTA standards etc.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, casting, forging and mechanical assembly procedures and component validation
