Overview:
The Lockheed Martin (LM) Finance and Business Operations (F&BO) organization is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to join the Corporate Controllers Group as a Senior Staff member on the Accounting Policy team. In this role you will provide authoritative technical accounting guidance, conduct in-depth research, and support corporate leadership and key accounting stakeholders across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct technical accounting research and draft memoranda on complex topics such as revenue recognition, acquisitions, joint-venture investments, variable-interest entities, goodwill and intangible assets, capitalized software, debt issuance/modification, hedging & derivatives, leases, and other technical areas.
• Monitor and interpret developments from the FASB, SEC, and PCAOB; assess the impact of new standards on corporate policies, practices, and disclosures.
• Collaborate with finance, SOX, legal, tax, treasury, and other functional teams, as well as external auditors, to provide guidance on transactions and ensure compliance with applicable FASB/SEC accounting literature.
• Update and maintain the company's accounting policy manuals in response to new transactions, evolving standards (including FASB ASUs and SEC), and other regulatory guidance.
• Assist with the implementation of new accounting and reporting requirements across the organization;
• Compile and analyze data for periodic SEC filings (Forms 10-K/Q) and annual proxy-statement disclosures.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses to support corporate-governance initiatives and accounting-research projects.
• Contribute to high-visibility projects involving accounting transactions, adoption of new reporting standards, and ongoing policy enhancements.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support the team's objectives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
Performs one or more multiple financial activities within various finance job functions (FP&A, Overhead, Program Finance, Accounting, Controller, etc.). Will include some or all of the responsibilities as defined. Performs financial analysis, establishes performance management budgeting, and forecasting activities to include variance analysis, trend identification, workforce planning drivers, risk and opportunities assessment and development of mitigation plans. Integrates information from multiple financial systems, processes and functions in order to consolidate the data forensics into actionable business solution recommendations. Timely and accurately consolidates financial results (Orders, Sales, EBIT, Cash, ROIC, Overhead, Discretionary Funding) and monthly, quarterly and year end reporting to internal and external customers to include government contractual cost and schedule earned value management reporting. Develops and utilizes forward-looking data analytics, visualization and trend analysis to inform financial strategy and decision making. Develops and provides actionable recommendations to key stakeholders to make sound financial and operating decisions. Maintains applicable internal and external (FAR, CAS, SEC, US GAAP) policy, procedure, and controls for compliance to support internal process and external regulatory requirements. Provides subject matter expertise support to proposal development, basis of estimate and negotiations, as required.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or a related field) from an accredited institution
• 4 to 6 years of experience at either a Big 4 public-accounting firm (preferred) or accounting advisory firm or in a technical accounting role within a large public company.
• CPA license
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and U.S. SEC regulations
• Experience in writing technical accounting research memorandums related to accounting transactions
• Demonstrated problem solving experience (identify problems and develop/implement solutions)

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $81500.00 - $151300.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
