Job description

Delivery Material Handler

Gulfeagle Supply is looking for motivated individuals to join our team and utilize our core value of the development of people. Our Delivery Material Handlers work alongside our driver and are responsible for ensuring the proper delivery of building materials to the job site by using a forklift, crane, conveyor and/or by hand. Gulfeagle offers several training opportunities to help develop our employees into the next stage of their career. ย 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Deliveryย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

  • Responsible for loading or assisting in loading and securing materials on trucks daily.
  • Assists in verifying the quantities of materials for accuracy.
  • Assists driver in locating the job site.ย 
  • Spot driver when backing up into a job site.
  • Direct driver in placement of the conveyor.
  • Unload or assists in unloading materials by using forklift crane, conveyor and/or by hand. (May require walking varying distances based on job site conditions.)

Roof Topย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

  • Responsible for climbing up to a 40-foot ladder to deliver materials on a pitch of up to an 8/12 roof.
  • Ensure proper stacking and distribution in the placement of materials on the roof.

Equipmentย ย ย ย ย 

  • Ensure truck is properly equipped for delivery including filling cooler, strapping materials, loading ladder, and other as needed.

OSHAย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

  • Responsible for OSHA compliance as it relates to oneself and t company

Inventoryย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

  • Assist in taking inventory quarterly or as needed.

Maintenance

  • Maintain warehouse, yard, and trucks in a proper presentable manner.ย  Minor repairs as needed.

Safety

  • Responsible for the safe handling of materials including wearing back brace, gloves, shoes, and other safety devices as appropriate.ย  Responsible for aiding in the safe operation of vehicles as it relates to the customerโ€™s property and Gulfeagleโ€™s property.

Customer Service

  • Aiding Customers with materials, reporting problems with deliveries, service issues, and all other as needed

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reports directly to the Branch Manager and indirectly to the District Manager on branch and personnel issues.ย  Reports indirectly to the Safety team regarding fleet, safety, and staff.

Education, Experience, and Licensing

1.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Read, write, and comprehend English or Spanish as required by the branch location.
2.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Knowledge of roofing material and/or construction and distribution.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Ability to bend, reach, lift, and climb
  • Must lift up to 100 pounds of material continually for up to two hours at a time.
  • Ability to work on multi-story buildings at various heights.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, rain, or shine.
  • Requires a high degree of attention to ensure proper delivery while preventing damage to materials and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain loyalty to Gulfeagle Supply
  • Ability to interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner. Tact and diplomacy required in dealing with customer personnel at delivery points.
  • Ability to handle all functions of the job in a safe manner.
  • Must pass substance abuse screening; employees are subject to random substance abuse screening under company policy.
