The Government Affairs team helps develop policy and strategy on a range of issues, and manages Apple’s interactions with legislators. Our team has experience working at a high level in government, as well as experience working as policy advocates. We have a strong passion for crafting policy and strategic engagement campaigns that impact Apple’s state and local government business for many years to come.
As a senior member of our State Government Affairs team, you will develop policy and strategy on a range of issues, and lead Apple’s interactions with state legislators. Your experience working at the state or local level in government, as well as working as a policy advocate will be vital to this role.
Description
Design and implement public policy initiatives and engagement strategies with state and local lobbyists.
Develop and nurture relationships with key partners, as well as with industry trade associations, legislative and executive organizations and related nonprofit groups.
Effectively communicate policy priorities and provide feedback on policy initiatives.
Draft policy and background materials for relevant meetings and engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience advocating before states on behalf of members, corporations, trade associations, or any other interest groups and leading engagement with key organizations and related nonprofits.
Knowledge of the policy issues relevant to Apple.
Understanding of complicated technology issues and the ability to simplify them for non-technical audiences.
Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to concisely summarize sophisticated issues and policies to create advocacy points and strategy.
Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced work environment.
Creative problem-solving history, ability to work collaboratively and under short timelines.
Excellent leadership skills and professional presence.
Highly motivated, self-starter and able to manage competing priorities.
Standout colleague and willingness to pitch in when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years experience in government, government relations, or other advocacy/engagement roles at the state or local level.
Experience working in/with executive and legislative offices and with extensive knowledge of the legislative process.
Experience leading a portfolio of policy issues and coordinating policy-focused events.
Ability to travel extensively - both within your state territory and nationally across all 50 states. During session, expect an average of 2-5 trips per month.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $207,700 and $311,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You'll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses - including tuition.
