What is a local server?

Local servers are computers or systems that provide services, data, or resources to other computers within a localized network, such as a home, office, or organization. Unlike remote servers hosted on the internet, local servers are physically located on-site and managed by the organization or individual. They are commonly used for file storage, application hosting, network management, and security purposes. Using a local server can improve speed, enhance data privacy, and provide more control over resources compared to relying solely on cloud-based services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a local server?

To thrive as a Local Server in the food and beverage industry, you need strong customer service abilities, basic math skills, and knowledge of food safety standards, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and, in some jurisdictions, food handler certifications are typically required. Excellent communication, multitasking, and teamwork are crucial soft skills for providing a positive dining experience and handling busy shifts. These skills ensure efficient service, customer satisfaction, and smooth restaurant operations.

How does a local server coordinate with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure a smooth dining experience?

As a Local Server, effective communication with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams is crucial to delivering a seamless dining experience. Servers are responsible for accurately relaying guest orders to the kitchen and promptly following up on any special dietary requests or changes. They also work closely with hosts, bussers, and bartenders to ensure tables are set, drinks are served in a timely manner, and any guest concerns are addressed quickly. This collaborative approach helps minimize errors, reduces wait times, and enhances overall customer satisfaction.

Job description

HomeGrown is different from any other restaurant job. We've taken the idea of everyday kindness and made a part of everything we do:
The Schedule: We arrive to work early, but we're off by at least 3:30pm every day
The Pay and Benefits: Making the same or better pay than traditional restaurant gigs, plus paid-time off, vision, dental and medical for full-time team members. This position is an hourly position that receives tips as the majority of their compensation. Did we mention no dinner shifts?!
The Culture: A work environment characterized by kindness, a welcoming spirit, teamwork and personal development.
If all that sounds desirable to you -- come join our Team at HomeGrown: A Daytime Eatery. We are Rogers' Newest, hottest, and busiest, breakfast/brunch place! Come join our new restaurant team and help us show the good people of Northwest Arkansas what a great breakfast/brunch experience is all about!
At HomeGrown we believe in 'Local when it's better' - so we seek out and partner with local food purveyors, dairy farmers, bee hivers, etc. who share our commitment to freshness, quality, and community! And we do it all while Cultivating Kindness - with the basic idea that being considerate, polite, and NICE matters just as much as serving great eggs and tasty bacon...
And HomeGrown is more than just Rogers, we've been around since 2017 and already have several locations.
We are part of Thrive Restaurant Group, a family-owned restaurant company that's been in business for over 50 years. We are committed to making a difference in the lives of the people we serve and the communities in which we live. If you want to work in a fun, family atmosphere and are interested in learning business, leadership, and hospitality, HomeGrown is the place for you. And... you'll be done with work by 3:30 pm!

Our servers at HomeGrown are experience makers for our guests.
