Position Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for leading and directing all activities of the Timken Aurora Bearing Plant. Specifically, the Plant Manager is expected to manage all day-to-day operations to achieve business plan, drive improvements throughout the plant utilizing lean manufacturing principles, align the plant's strategy and activities with the overall business needs, train and develop employees, ensure compliance with all government regulations and Timken policies and act as the representative in the local community.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Manage all day-to-day operations of the plant to meet the Business Plan Objectives and Key Performance Indicators related to Safety & Environmental, Quality, Customer Service, Inventory and Production Output.
  • Drive improvements in all phases of the operations (i.e. production, scheduling, inventory, quality, engineering, HR, safety, costs, etc.) by aggressively implementing lean manufacturing principles and by benchmarking and implementing best practices.
  • Ensure the plants mission, strategy and short-term activities are aligned with the overall needs of the business by developing strong working relationships and joint business processes with key functional groups (i.e. Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing)
  • Improve the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of all associates in the plant by ensuring that appropriate training and development programs are established and implemented.
  • Ensure all plant processes and employees comply with all applicable Government regulations (i.e. Sarbanes-Oxley, environmental reporting, etc.) and Timken policies and core values.
  • Act as the primary representative of Timken Aurora Bearing in the local community. As appropriate, become active with local organizations (i.e. Chamber of Commerce, etc.), represent Timken to local government organizations and act as point of first contact for local media outlets.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Experience leading a manufacturing operations group
  • Development of comprehensive business plans (costs, inventory, etc.)
  • Development of employees of all levels within a plant
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Business and/or Manufacturing strategy experience
  • Product development and/or sales/marketing experience a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, supply chain or related field with 15+ years' experience in manufacturing or master's degree in engineering, business, supply chain or related field with 12+ years' experience in manufacturing

The starting pay range for this position is $140,000 to $175,000 annually and is commensurate on experience and education. This position is eligible to participate in the company's short-term incentive program, paid time off, 401k, and comprehensive benefits plan. Relocation assistance available.
