Summary

As a Local Driver, you will be a vital link in keeping our operations moving and our customers served. In this role, you'll safely and efficiently operate tractor trailer equipment between company and customer locations, handling drop and hook, spotting, and equipment exchanges as needed. You'll represent the Perdue Farms brand with professionalism on every route, ensuring freight is delivered on time and to the highest standards. This position offers the opportunity to build a rewarding driving career while playing a key role in supporting our supply chain and customers.

*This is a part time position 

This position is a piece rate position and is paid $32.50 per hour, with average earnings of $88K per year, guaranteed minimum wage laws apply. Annual bonus  (variable depending on performance) as well as overtime may be available.

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maneuver and deliver/backhaul truckloads of product and materials to plants, customers, and distributors as assigned. 
  • Observe and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements regarding hours of service, logbook, vehicle inspections, load inspections, and securing load. To include utilizing electronic logging device (paper logs when needed), on board vehicle tracking system in efficient manner.
  • Operate a tractor and trailer in a legal/safe manner consistent with all Federal, State and Local laws, regulations, and Company policies. To include the utilization of all on board safety features.
  • Complete and submit all Company paperwork to include but not limited to manifest, bill of lading, proof of delivery pay envelopes, overage, shortage, damaged claims, and trip reports.
  • As assigned, the physical process of loading and unloading of products may be required. 
  • Responsible for seal integrity and the reporting of an accurate /verified case count and condition of product during deliveries.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum Two years over the road Tractor/Trailer driving experience with trailers preferred.
  • Valid CDL A License.
  • Required to travel to customers, distributors, plant facilities and other remote locations.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Strong communication skills.

 

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

  • Able to drive a tractor with a trailer.
  • Able to remain seated for extended periods of time up to the limits established by DOT regulations.
  • Able to withstand bouncing and vibration from truck and road conditions.
  • Able to lift boxes up to 100 pounds to load/unload products.
  • Exposed to fuel and oil spills.
  • Exposed to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0-100%) and noise (50db to 100db).
