Universal Intermodal services all major US Ports and intermodal Rail Ramps and offers domestic door-to-door drayage to and from Ports, Rails, and Customer Facilities. We operate from 40 terminals and eight container yards. We provide Chassis, Containers, Drayage, and Services for Imports, Exports, and Domestic moves.

We are currently interested in hiring multiple skilled Owner/Operator Truck Drivers to join our dynamic team at our terminal in the Kansas City, MO area. This position is vital for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of freight across designated routes. As a Truck Driver, you will play an essential role in maintaining our reputation for quality service.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial truck to transport freight to designated locations
  • Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
  • Ensure cargo is properly secured and transported safely
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Maintain accurate logs, bills of lading, and delivery documentation
  • Comply with DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies
  • Communicate with dispatch and customers regarding delivery status
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance, repairs, and cleanliness
  • Handle freight professionally and provide excellent customer service

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Minimum 6 months required tractor trailer driving experience
  • Ownership of a reliable, DOT-compliant 2005 or newer tractor
  • Clean driving record and background check
  • Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with dedicated local routes
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs)
  • No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
  • No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years
