What are local golf courses?

Local golf courses are recreational facilities in your area where individuals can play the sport of golf. These courses typically feature a series of holes, each with a teeing ground, fairway, and putting green, designed to challenge players of varying skill levels. Many local golf courses offer amenities such as equipment rentals, lessons, pro shops, and clubhouses. They can be public, private, or semi-private, and often serve as community gathering spots for tournaments and social events.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a golf course manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Golf Course Manager, you need expertise in turf management, facility operations, budgeting, and a background in agronomy or related fields, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with irrigation systems, groundskeeping equipment, and golf management software is typically required. Leadership, customer service, and problem-solving are standout soft skills for managing staff and ensuring a positive guest experience. These skills ensure the course is well-maintained, operations run smoothly, and members and guests are satisfied.

Position Title: Golf After School Activities Supervisor

FLSA Classification: Part-time, Non-Exempt, Seasonal

Date Modified: August 2026

Reports to: Director of Athletics

Salary Range: $1,500-$2,000 seasonal stipend

Solebury School (New Hope, PA) is looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, and positive individual to lead our High School Recreational Golf Program this fall.

This is an opportunity to spend a few afternoons each week on a local course, helping students develop their golf skills while keeping the experience fun, welcoming, and rewarding. The program is for students who want to play, learn, and enjoy the game, whether they are new to golf or already have experience. The schedule is Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, approximately 3:30-5:15 p.m., from September 10 through early November.

The ideal candidate knows the game, enjoys working with high school students, and can create an environment where students feel comfortable trying something new, building confidence, and having fun. This is also an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a young person's life through mentorship, encouragement, and a shared love of the game. For the right candidate, this position could also lead to an opportunity to coach Solebury's High School Golf team during the spring season.
