Job Type
Full-time
Description
POSITION: The Director of Safety is a key member of Haven Services' leadership team, responsible for overseeing the Company's safety programs ensuring that safety and compliance remain at the forefront of all business activities while driving continuous improvement in regulatory compliance and workplace safety.
About Haven Services
Haven Services, LLC is a privately held home and commercial services company owned by Watermark Investors Fund I, L.P. Built through approximately ten acquisitions since 2021, Haven operates across Ohio with approximately 500 employees and roughly $100 million in annual revenue. The company is pursuing a long-term target of $200 million in revenue and $30 million in EBITDA, anchored by operational excellence, technology investment, and disciplined growth across its Services and Contracting segments.
Position Overview
The Director will collaborate closely with executive leadership, operations, human resources, and regional safety managers to strengthen Haven's culture of safety, mitigate organizational risk, and maintain modern, compliant, and cost-effective programs.
This role exists because Haven's growth across three markets, nine office locations, and multiple trade lines requires a single, senior owner of safety strategy, regulatory compliance, and risk management who can set consistent standards and drive them into the field, rather than leaving safety practice to vary office by office.
The Director does not carry formal supervisory authority over branch operations or trade business units. Those relationships are owned by the regional Presidents and business unit leaders. The Director works with and through Regional Safety Managers at each market providing indirect (dotted-line) supervision, coaching, and standards while day-to-day management of field safety activities remains with local operational leadership.
Benefits You'll Enjoy
We offer competitive pay, outstanding benefits, and 100% employer-paid medical premiums.
Employment with Haven Services comes with excellent perks! Major health benefits are available on the first of the month following your start date. Paid Time Off, paid holidays, and 401(k) with company match begin immediately upon hire.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
  • A collaborative, supportive work environment.

Comprehensive benefits package:
  • Medical Insurance choice of HDHP with HRA & HSA or PPO - Company offers 100% coverage of Employee's HDHP Premium!
  • Dental and Vision Insurance
  • Company provided Life and Disability Insurance
  • 401(k) with Employer Match
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, floating holidays

  • Develop, implement, and sustain company-wide safety strategies, programs, and policies that promote a proactive, safety-first culture.
  • Serve as the senior advisor to leadership on all safety matters.
  • Ensure alignment of safety initiatives with Haven's strategic goals and operational plans.
  • Design and lead recurring safety engagement campaigns (seasonal safety initiatives, recognition challenges, leadership visibility programs) to reinforce a proactive safety culture.
  • Develop safety communications and messaging for company-wide rollout, including policy memos and manager-facing talking points.

Safety & Compliance
  • Oversee compliance with OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manage all safety manuals, training programs, toolbox talks, and new hire safety orientation.
  • Direct workplace safety audits, inspections, and investigations in collaboration with Regional Safety Managers.
  • In partnership with the Director, Operations Support, ensure that the standard policies/process developed for the Company's entire fleet of vehicles and equipment, including acquisition, registration, wraps/decals, and disposal/transfer, are being adhered to.
  • Partner with the Director, Operations Support on fleet-related compliance and GPS/telematics-based driver performance monitoring (Azuga) owning quarterly driver scoring, corrective action protocols, and alignment with performance bonuses, while the Director, Operations Support owns the underlying fleet systems and hardware.
  • Own the Company's Embark Safety driver license monitoring service and MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check system, ensuring continuous license verification, timely flagging of violations, and consistent follow-up across all drivers company-wide.
  • Oversee claims management for auto, property, workers' compensation, and general liability from initial reporting through closure.
  • Manage relationships with insurance carriers and brokers, including premium renewals and loss-run reviews, in partnership with Finance.
  • Ensure accurate injury and incident tracking, reporting, and OSHA ITA submissions.
  • Own safety KPI dashboards (incident rates, TRIR, EMR, claims trends) and report performance to executive leadership on a recurring basis.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response and business continuity protocols (esevere weather response, workplace violence prevention, crisis communication).

Collaboration & Training
  • Partner with Human Resources to manage workers' compensation, the Drug-Free Workplace Program, and DOT/FMCSA driver compliance.
  • Partner with Human Resources on wellness-adjacent safety initiatives ( driver fatigue, mental health awareness tied to safety outcomes).
  • Support Regional Safety Managers with tools, training, and resources to drive consistency across the organization.
  • Represent Haven at industry associations, safety councils, and Builders Exchange meetings.
  • Ensure policy rollouts are documented and acknowledged via HRIS (Paylocity) with defined compliance deadlines.

Technology & Systems Modernization
  • Partner with Technology and operational leadership to modernize safety systems and adopt technology digital toolbox talks, incident reporting platforms, and safety management software that improves the speed, accuracy, and visibility of safety data.
  • Stay current on emerging safety-related technology (telematics, AI-based risk mitigation resources, digital training platforms) and recommend adoption where it strengthens Haven's safety program and keeps the Company at the forefront of industry practice.
  • Collaborate with the Technology Leadership and the Director, Operations Support to integrate safety data incident reports, training records, driver scores into Haven's core systems ( ServiceTitan, Paylocity, Azuga, Embark, Oswald, Grange), reducing manual tracking and improving reporting accuracy.
