Job description

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Local Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently within designated local routes. This role requires a strong understanding of various types of vehicles, including tractor-trailers, and flatbeds. A commitment to safety and excellent customer service is essential.

As our business grows it is essential that the person applying for this position is committed to longevity at the company and willing to build with us. Being family owned and operated we care about our employees and team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of vehicles including tractor-trailers, and flatbeds for local deliveries.
  • This position requires you to be able to lift up to 50 lbs, but typically you do not have to physically handle any materials for loading or unloading.
  • Navigate assigned routes efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery schedules.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery status and any potential issues.

Requirements

  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Must have 2 years of driving experience for insurance purposes
  • Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely deliveries and efficient usage of hours.
  • Must be able to pass background checks and drug screenings as required by company policy.
