Job description

Job Summary:

The purpose of the Local Truck Driver is to be responsible for using trucks to transport company goods between local facilities and warehouses.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Dispatcher to request and receive work assignments
  • Communicate any concerns
  • Operate communications equipment
  • Observe minor maintenance needs on the trucks and trailers and document accordingly
  • Document product overage, shortage, or damage
  • Complete required reports
  • Connect and disconnect air lines from the truck to trailer
  • Demonstrate dependability and consistent, punctual attendance for all work assignments

Performance Expectations (if applicable):

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reaching is required approximately 50 times per shift.
  • Stooping is required approximately 100 times per shift for approximately 10-second intervals.
  • Must be able to climb in and out of trucks frequently and pass a physical.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Must have at least 2 years of previous verifiable truck driving history/experience
  • Hold and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
  • Must be able to speak, read and write well enough to communicate with the general public, to respond to law enforcement and DOT officials
  • Available for overtime, weekend, and holiday work when needed
  • Driving record must withstand a motor vehicle report check

Other Requirements:

  • Overtime is required on occasion.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
