The Flat is a Montrose bar and gathering place for music, culture and art influenced by DJ Sun. We present rum-inspired drinks, music, art, and food in a diverse setting informed by our Montrose Community. The Flat aims to present the above in a setting that encourages similar comforts to being in one's own "flat": a feeling of being at home, with an emphasis on providing great service and quality.

Our Venue...Classic Mid-Century Design that showcases art by local artists. Includes an outdoor patio complete with bar and music.

Responsibilities

  • Mix and Serve: Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beer, wine, and soft drinks, following established recipes and ensuring consistent quality.
  • Barista: prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages, including espresso-based drinks like lattes and cappuccinos
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by taking orders, making recommendations, and engaging with patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
  • ID Verification: Verify the age of customers to ensure compliance with alcohol laws and regulations.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including cleaning counters, glassware, and equipment, and disposing of empty bottles and trash.
  • Stock Management: Monitor and manage bar inventory, restocking supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash, process payments, make change, and manage tabs.
  • Menu Knowledge: Have a deep understanding of our drink menu and be able to recommend drinks based on customer preferences.
  • Responsible Service: Recognize signs of intoxication and responsibly refuse service to intoxicated patrons when necessary.
  • Recipe Mastery: Familiarity with a wide range of drink recipes and the ability to make drinks quickly and accurately.
  • Customer Conflict Resolution: Handle difficult customer situations professionally and, if needed, involve management or security.
  • Closing Duties: Clean the bar area at the end of the shift, restock supplies, and close out cash registers.

  • Proper certifications: TABC and Food Handlers.
  • Barista Experience and willingness to learn the bartending and cocktail creation craft.
