Job description

This position delivers material to customers, which includes assistance with unloading, ensuring delivery of tickets with material, and checking for accuracy in material delivered matches material ordered.

Essential Functions

  • Safe, accurate, timely delivery of material to customers.
  • Provide superior customer service experience to customers, with a positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile to meet their needs.
  • Pick up customer returns as needed, create an accurate log of all material.
  • Perform daily truck inspections and fill out daily DOT (Department of Transportation) log.
  • Perform regular pre-trip and post-trip inspections, fuel the truck as needed, and immediately report any problems or issues to the warehouse manager.
  • Comply with all DOT standards and regulations.
  • Ensure trucks are accessible, clean, organized, and safe.
  • Ensure all necessary safety equipment is readily accessible (helmets, gloves, goggles, vest, or safety color shirt).
  • Wear proper safety equipment as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain proper license endorsements, as well as clean driving record.

Competencies

  • Working knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Product knowledge, or the ability to quickly learn it.

Work Environment

This position spends most of the time on the road and on jobsites, with some time spent in the warehouse. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters, tape dispensers, and forklifts. Staff must be physically able to accomplish the demands of the job in the lifting and moving of material.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED required. 

Experience:

  • Three to five years of previous driving experience required.
  • Must have a clean and safe driving record, minimum Class F license endorsement and medical card. Class B CDL preferred.
  • Must have forklift training. 

Physical Requirements

  • Lift/carry/push/pull heavy material or equipment (up to 75 lbs.).
  • This position will require working both inside and outside in hot, cold, rainy, and snowy conditions.
  • Ability to climb stairs, descend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel.
  • Climb up and down a 12 foot ladder.
  • All new drivers will take the Caliper test before hiring to make sure they have the competencies needed to serve our customers.
  • Safety training, sales training, and proper etiquette coaching.
