The Role
The Gate Clerk manages traffic at the yard entrance, ensuring only authorized individuals and vehicles are allowed access. This role also involves verifying credentials, inspecting outgoing traffic, directing visitors, and maintaining communication to ensure smooth operations across the yard.

Shift: 5AM - 5 PM alternating schedule. Hours at the beginning for training and onboarding may vary.

Compensation: $18.00/hour Starting Wages (Pay Bi-Weekly) *A final amount is dependent on factors including prior relevant experience, knowledge, and location. Typically, selected candidates are hired at a rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Yard Entrance Control - Monitor the yard entrance gate to manage traffic entering and leaving the property, opening the gate to allow drivers access as needed
  • Credential and Load Verification - Check credentials and Bills of Lading (BOLs)/load information after allowing anyone to enter the yard, ensuring proper security
  • Issuance of Passes - Issue passes at your discretion or based on instructions from supervisors, maintaining safety and security protocols
  • Direct Visitors and Drivers - Guide visitors and drivers to the correct areas of the yard and grounds
  • Outgoing Traffic Inspection - Inspect outgoing vehicles to prevent the unauthorized removal of company loads, trailers, or products
  • Track Traffic Movement - Keep track of the number of trucks and other carriers entering and leaving the yard for accurate record-keeping
  • Communication Monitoring - Monitor company phones and 2-way radios to ensure smooth traffic flow across the yard
  • Accountability & Reliability – Maintain regular and reliable attendance while performing other duties as assigned to support team and business needs
