Job description

At the two-year mark, an Apprentice Plumber is transitioning from basic support to handling routine tasks independently under the general guidance of a Journeyman or Master Plumber. You are expected to have a solid grasp of plumbing hand tools, basic code requirements, and the ability to read simple blueprints.

Position Overview

  • Job Title: Apprentice Plumber (2nd/3rd Year)
  • Experience Required: 2+ years of hands-on, registered apprenticeship experience
  • Reports To: Lead Journeyman Plumber / Project Superintendent

Key Responsibilities

1. Installation & Assembly

  • Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for water, gas, and drainage systems.
  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, and glue pipes using copper, PEX, PVC, ABS, and cast iron.
  • Install rough-in plumbing for residential or commercial builds (tub showers, toilet flanges, drain lines).

2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving plumbing issues, including stubborn clogs, leaks, and pressure drops.
  • Replace water heaters, garbage disposals, sump pumps, and faucets with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct pressure tests on gas and water lines to ensure system integrity.

3. Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to local plumbing codes, safety protocols (OSHA), and building regulations.

4. Professionalism & Support

  • Keep the service vehicle stocked, organized, and clean.
  • Must work well in a team environment
  • Maintain a clean work site, ensuring all tools are accounted for and debris is cleared.
  • Interact professionally with clients, explaining basic repairs and representing the company well.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Licensing

Active Plumbing Apprentice Card/Registration in good standing.

Must be willing to submit to a drug screening

Experience

2+ years of documented field experience in residential or commercial plumbing.

Technical Skills

Proficient in soldering copper, joining PVC/PEX, and using basic power tools.

Bilingual a plus
