  • Receives animals brought into the shelter by citizens and may assist Animal Services Officers with animals they bring in.

  • Completes all entry of the animal data into Chameleon software to create the kennel card with information about the animal including location found, picture, description and vaccines given.

  • Cleans all cages in accordance with shelter protocol.

  • Bathes and grooms animals as necessary for health and promotion of adoptions.

  • Provides food and water at specified times and as necessary, maintains clean and pest free food preparation area, food bowls and water dishes/buckets.

  • Maintains cleanliness of the can free roaming area.

  • Answers questions from potential adopters, rescue organizations, volunteers and the public regarding animal health and behavior.

  • Staffs adoptions events at the shelter and at outside venues, includes bathing, grooming animals, transport of animals to the event location and turning animals to the shelter.

  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED.

  • No previous experience required. Kennel experience preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.

  • Valid Texas Driver's License with current automobile insurance.

  • Basic Animal Control Certification may be acquired after employment.

  • Schedule will require 3 days per week; Saturday, Sunday & Monday.

SALARY RANGE: $15.30 per hour, Up to 20 hours per week

CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
