Job description

Reach Truck Operator (Stand-Up Forklift) – 2nd Shift

The Forklift Operator Freezer is responsible for operating material handling equipment in both freezer and ambient environments. This role supports warehouse operations by receiving, storing, staging, and loading finished products while maintaining inventory accuracy and following all safety, GMP, and company procedures. The position requires working in temperatures ranging from -10°F to 100°F and communicating effectively with internal departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all receipts, transfers, transactions, documentation and counts are accurate.
  • Operate material handling equipment (Sit Down, Stand-Up Forklifts and Pallet Jacks).
  • When receiving, shipping, transferring materials from one location to another check pallet condition, product condition, product item number and description, item lot number, item quantity and item location.
  • Ship / Receive / Supply material according to established procedures.
  • Check trailer temperature as required before loading / unloading.
  • Check material temperature as required before loading / unloading.
  • Review all incoming / outgoing and internal documentation as required.
  • Inspect all incoming / outgoing pallets for integrity and cleanliness.
  • All materials should be pulled FIFO unless otherwise instructed.
  • Pull and scan materials according to pick ticket and or request and transfer to proper staging location.
  • Scan and stack materials according to procedures.
  • Tag each pallet according to procedures.
  • Report any damages, discrepancies etc… to the Supervisor immediately.
  • Perform all required computer transactions.
  • Perform all required scanner transactions.
  • Follow proper material storage and handling procedures.
  • Load / Unload truck or trailer according to procedures.
  • Pull and stage materials as requested for transfer between facilities.
  • Process returned materials as per procedure.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Conduct cycle counts as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Ensure all GMPs, departmental procedures and company policies are followed within the warehouse.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Work in temperatures from -10 degrees to 100 degrees F.
  • Initiate Cycle Counts
  • Process - Place or Remove HOLD tags.
  • Reconcile Inventory.
  • Communicate with Internal Departments as needed. e.g. QA, Customer Service, Maintenance, etc….

Experience Preferred:

  • Valid forklift certification or ability to be certified
  • Previous experience working in freezer or cold-storage environments
  • Experience with inventory systems / WMS
  • Prior experience in food manufacturing or GMP-regulated environments
  • Experience performing cycle counts and inventory reconciliation
  • Ability to operate RF scanners / handheld devices
  • Experience loading and unloading trailers
  • Familiarity with FIFO inventory practices

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in temperatures ranging from -10°F to 100°F
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (or whatever your company standard is)
  • Willingness to work assigned shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Basic computer skills (scanner systems, data entry)
  • Must follow all safety, GMP, and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Steel-toe & anti-slip footwear required
