Technician II - High school diploma or equivalent; four years of experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses or two years of experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses in a veterinary academic teaching hospital; and certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician.
Job Description:
At the University of Florida, we place a high value on the role our nurses play in helping clinicians train the next generation of veterinary students. As a member of our nursing staff, you will play an instrumental role in instructing veterinary students in technical skills and performing medical treatments and procedures as directed by our veterinarians. In addition to providing exceptional facilities for providing patient care. As an academic teaching hospital, we are fortunate to have access to the latest innovations in veterinary healthcare.
Individuals should genuinely care about people and animals, be outgoing, enthusiastic and a team player.
This is a CARE full-time benefited position that includes PTO and retirement, retention bonus eligibility and opportunity for Vet Tech School tuition assistance and paid CE. We also offer excellent health insurance with HMO and PPO options. Additionally, there are generous shift differentials in addition to base rate of pay.
Typically schedules consist of working five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts per work week. We are currently hiring for individuals to work Evening Shift. Assigned days may vary Sunday through Saturday, weekends and holidays included.
However, reassignment to a different primary shift (Day shift, Evening Shift or Night Shift), rotating shifts, split shifts, extended shifts and paid "on-call duty" may be required and assigned depending on hospital needs.
This individual is considered essential personnel which may include reporting to work during Main Campus closures.
Expected Salary:
$18-25/hr based on experience, certification & shift
Required Qualifications
Technician I - High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses or one year of experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses in a veterinary academic teaching hospital.
Technician II - High school diploma or equivalent; four years of experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses or two years of experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling and treating horses in a veterinary academic teaching hospital; and certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician.
Preferred:Previous experience as a veterinary technician in a large animal practice.
Certification or licensure as a veterinary technician is preferred, but not required.
