Job description

We are hiring for a first shift chemical Forklift Operator to provide safe and efficient material handling to support operations and achieve growth. This position reports to the facility manager and may occasionally require weekends, holidays, and overtime. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all safety and standard operating procedures are followed while operating in the warehouse
  • Handle and prepare HAZMAT for shipment in accordance with federal, state and local requirements/ordinances
  • Safely operate a lift truck while unloading trailers, containers, rail cars and placing product in storage locations
  • Safely operate a lift truck while picking orders to load onto trailers, containers, and railcars
  • Utilize all material handling technology to maximize efficiency and maintain effective inventory accuracy
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Reliable transportation to report to scheduled shift
  • Basic math, reading and writing skills for demonstrated accuracy in counting and completing paperwork
  • Capacity to use technology equipment including Radio Frequency (RF) Scanners for managing inventory
  • Previous knowledge or a desire to learn about the product being handled
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Ability to follow instructions and follow through on assigned tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and written
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 2 years of previous lift truck experience; loading and unloading trailers, containers, and railcars
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in warehouse environment
  • Experience operating lift truck attachments such as forks, carton clamp, roll grab, and pulp clamp preferred
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time through hot and cold temperatures
  • Ability to repetitively twist or turn to drive in reverse; and stand, climb, kneel, stoop and squat, as needed
  • Ability to turn steering wheel on lift truck requiring full rotation or arms and shoulders
  • Must be willing and able to safely lift up to 60 pounds
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniforms that are provided by the company
