Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Associate

Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Associate verifies and records all incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares items for delivery, and ensures that the loading dock and warehouse operations run smoothly and efficiently. This role combines hands-on material handling with computer-based documentation and inventory management in a clean, organized distribution environment.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and document all incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy of quantities, descriptions, and documentation.
  • Lift and move items and packages weighing 40–60 pounds, using proper material handling techniques to ensure safety.
  • Use a computer to manage email, access internet-based information, and create or update Microsoft Office documents to maintain an electronic log of incoming and outgoing packages.
  • Requisition, receive, and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain adequate stock levels for daily operations.
  • Maintain in-house vendor inventory, ensuring records are accurate and stock levels are up to date.
  • Keep a busy loading dock in good order, including organizing labels, equipment, materials, and supplies so that shipments flow efficiently.
  • Transport goods using the department truck as needed, following all safety and operational procedures.
  • Package outgoing shipments and parcels securely and accurately according to company and customer requirements.
  • Select appropriate domestic and international carriers or truckers based on shipment needs, cost, and service requirements.
  • Complete all necessary shipping documentation for domestic and international shipments, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Track shipments as needed and provide status updates to internal stakeholders when requested.
  • Utilize the company’s web-based third-party logistics (3PL) software system to process, manage, and track shipments.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, including ISO and applicable government standards, in all shipping and receiving activities.

Essential Skills

  • Previous shipping and receiving experience in a distribution facility.
  • Ability to safely lift and move items weighing 40 or more pounds on a regular basis.
  • Data entry experience, including inventory management and use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to use a computer for email, internet-based information, and electronic documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail when verifying shipment contents and completing shipping documentation.
  • Ability to follow company policies, including ISO and government standards, and adhere to established procedures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
