Job description

The Residential Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transporting to post-collection facilities.

Key Responsibilities
As a Residential Driver, you are the face of GFL. You will:
  • Operate with Pride: Safely navigate residential neighborhoods in rear-load trucks to collect waste, yard waste, and recyclables.
  • Master the Equipment: Utilize hydraulic systems and compaction units with precision to maximize efficiency and minimize mechanical wear.
  • Safety First: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections. At GFL, if it isn't safe, we don't do it.
  • Customer Excellence: Provide courteous service to our neighbors, ensuring routes are completed accurately and containers are handled with care.
What You'll Need (Requirements)
  • The License: A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • The Experience: At least 1 year of commercial driving experience OR a certificate from an accredited CDL school.
  • The Mindset: A commitment to safety-sensitive functions and a clean driving record.
  • The Grit: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs repetitively.
  • The Skills: Strong spatial awareness (backing into tight spaces) and a professional demeanor.

  • This is an active role involving standing, walking, and frequent lifting.
  • You will be outdoors 100% of the time, embracing the elements and the rhythm of the road.
